"Lucky Visit" to Cameron Highlands
Source/Petikan:http://www.cameron-highland-destination.com/
Comment:
"Hi Jan,
I just would like to share my lucky visit to Cameron last week. I was fortunate to stay in one of the Homestay Chalet. It is located in Tanah Rata..at Kampung Taman Sedia. It is affordable and convenience.Oh! The chalet name is Marina Chalet. But...it is not really about the accomodation. I only would like to thanks the owner for giving my family the best treat ever.Since the weather were raining so heavily that day and we couldn't go anywhere ..without formalities and to our surprised..we were being invited by the owner to join a lunch at their hilltop family residence. While dining the owner told us whole heartedly the full history of Cameron. He even showed us the old black and white pictures of Cameron. We are so honored with the free knowledge and the good foods served. We only realized the owner is actually the first Penghulu of Cameron and had served the district for more than 36 years. His hospitality was second to none as he too offered and drove us to few places that was not in the map.Again I would like to highlight the warm hospitality of Cameron people. Our last visit to Cameron was worth more than the money we had spent.
By the way.. I am still amaze, back to this website, on how you can cope up with all the Cameron updates. You are just like the "Penghulu" that I ve met.I am sure you should be given the "Honorary Star Medal" from the local, particularly the Pahang State authority for promoting CAMERON HIGHLANDS personally.
Please keep it up and congratulation for all the fantastic job. "

Cameron Highlands "Keistimewaan"nya
Source/Petikan:http://jo-info.blogspot.com/2008/07/tanah-tinggi-cameron.html

NICE SNAPSHOT OF KG TAMAN SEDIA CAMERON HIGHLANDS
Source:http://snapshotcap.blogspot.com/2008/12/my-world-my-hometown.html
Writer: mohdfadz77 (Yahoo)
This is my first entry in another interesting and fun meme: My World Tuesday ...I'm begin with my hometown, a place where I've been born and raised. It's called Kampung Taman Sedia (Village of a ready garden - literally translate). Located in a district of Cameron Highlands, Pahang, Malaysia. It's the only Malay village in Cameron Highlands and there are 42 neighbors there. You can find a lots of place to stay here, as most of the neighbors provide a homestay (and that's include my dad & mom's house) with a reasonable price ...way cheaper than the glamor hotel and chalet at Cameron Highlands..and if you planning to have a vacation over there, don't forget to cantact me..lol!
Another view of Kampung Taman Sedia can be found on my previous post on Skywatch Friday & Wordless Wednesday

10 thing u must do in Cameron Highlands
Source:http://xxxreseacher.blog.friendster.com
For those who still not have an idea how to spend ur times in in Cameron Highland. This are the free tips for u all. 10 thing u must do in Cameron Highlands base on my experience:
1) i would suggested u all to stay at Tanah Rata, more budget hotel operate in tanah rata town and u can find middle rate hotel like century pines hotel and heritage hotel. I’ll stay in Heritage Hotel-view was great and cool..u also can find homestay in kampung sedia (Marina Chalet -0194605008), its own by malay family and more friendly…
2) Having steamboat- actually hard for u to find halal steamboat…so u can order it from the hotel or visit ermida restaurant ( tanah rata). its cost about RM12 to 15 for a person. Trust me u will luv it…
3) Tour from tanah rata to Brinchang or Kea Farm..if u an anergatic and challenges person. Start ur tour by using the parit waterfall track and malay villages (Taman Sedia)..from that villages u will see the smokehouse and Cameron Highlands Resort Hotel. trust me u will enjoy the jungle view and fresh air….
4)Visit the cactus valley, strawberry farm, tea plantation (boh plantation), butterfly farm, Mardi Park.
5)Jungle tracking at Parit Waterfall and Robinson Waterfall. Most challenges! walk and climb the hill until u reach Parit fall check Point, u can stop and view area such as Brinchang, Tanah rata, kmpung sedia..and byk lagi la…
6) Dessert-try on the strawberry tart, scones with blueberry, cheese or cream, strawberry ice-cream, strawberry pai, strawberry milk shack, strawberry cream and honey and try on teh tarik (totally different)-what make this dessert special is because of the fresh and its common to have this kind of dessert when visit to Cameron
7) Shopping- my advice is normally domestic tourist shop a lot souvenir like tea and strawberry dry that u can find it all places..but if u really want to have some shopping,i mean tshirt or others stuff please visit Cameron Jatimas in tanah rata.believe me u can get cheaper price.the owner also friendly and his husband is degree holder..bargain and get cheaper price..
Nite Market- if u have time please visit the nite market operate every night at Brinchang area.
9)Free ride - try to get the free ride when u travel along the way….
10) Visit to the English House : especially Lake House and Smokehouse. U will luv the style and decor inside and outside the house (garden).
Fact: Chinese is the majority live in Cameron and followed by Indian and Malay.. but with the goverment planning more and more malay people are staying at Cameron Highlands. First malays villages been establish is Kampung Taman Sedia.

Cameron HighlandsĂȘ
Cameron Highlands is a highland region located about 20 km east of Ipoh and about 150km north of Kuala Lumpur in Pahang, Malaysia. At 5000 ft (1,500 m) above sea level it is the highest area on the mainland, and enjoys a cool climate, with temperatures no higher than 25°C and rarely falling below 10°C year round. Cameron Highlands takes its name from William Cameron, the surveyor who mapped the area in 1885. He was soon followed by tea planters, Chinese vegetable farmers and colonialists looking for a temperate climate. Over the years, the favourable temperature has attracted too much badly conceived development and many were left unchecked. Despite this, Cameron Highlands is still a relaxing destination worth a visit. From Tapah it is 47km up to Ringlet, the first village of the Highlands and primarily Malay town. After Ringlet is the main town of Tanah Rata. Tanah Rata has a large Indian population, descendants of Indian workers originally brought here to pick tea. After Tanah Rata town is Brinchang, a more modern Chinese town.
A visit to a tea plantation is a popular Highlands outing. The first tea was planted here in 1929 by JA Russell, who founded the Boh Tea Estate. Apart from the beautiful vista of tea trees planted at the mountain sides, you can also visit the factories to see tea production and purchase some tea from the shops. Boh’s Sungai Palas Tea Estate is up in the hills north of Brinchang, off the road to Gunung Brinchang. Public buses running between Tanah Rata and Kampung Raja pass the turn-off to Gunung Brinchang. From there it is 4km along the road past Robertson Rose Garden to the plantation entrance. You can also visit the Boh Tea Estate, southeast of Tanah Rata and 8km off the main road up to the Highlands. www.boh.com.my. Robertson Rose Garden is worth a visit for its hilltop views.
Cameron Higlands is the leading producer of flowers in Malaysia. Most of the flower nurseries are centered around Bertam Valley and all along the way from Brinchang to Kg Raja. Common flowers are roses, chrysanthemum, carnations, dalia, geranium, fuschia and gladioli. Cactus nurseries are also found here. There are many strawberry farms in Cameron Highlands and the main season for strawberries is January. Some of the farms are Kasimani, KHM, EQ, Healthy and Raju Strawberry farm. There are also Vegetable farms which can be visited. The larger farms provide the vegetables for the nation’s consumption and not on the tourist trail. A butterfly Garden and Farm are located at Kea Farm. There are more than 300 varieties of butterflies and beetles, scorpions
and stick insects. There main tourist market to buy local produce can also be found at Kea Farm. Other markets are located along the mainroad from Ringlet to Kg. Raja. Other places of interest include the Sam Poh Temple, just below Brinchang about 1km off the main road. It is a typical Chinese temple with many statues and colours. It is signposted as the “Tokong Temple” from the intersection at the main road in front of Iris House Hotel. Located nearby is the Hindu temple, Sri Tehndayuthapany Swamy. It is adorned with bright sculptures created by artists from India. Gunung Brinchang at 2031m is the highest point and has breathtaking views. Drive the narrow and steep 7km road to reach here. Visit the Orang Asli (aboriginal People) settlement near Brinchang to see their simple way of life. You may need to hire a local Malay guide, who will also act as an interpreter. One of the most popular activities in Cameron Highlands is to enjoy Mother Nature. This can be done by doing jungle trekking and mountain hiking. There are up to 11 trails with varying degree of length and difficulty. The trails generally pass through relatively unspoiled jungle, and the cool weather makes hiking a pleasure. Many trails are available and it is safer to go in groups(especially for women) or hire guides for longer trails. Camping is another activity popular with the youth where you can pitch tent on the along the main range after a hike. Alternatively, you can put up tent at the Sg Pauh campsite, which is located near the Forestry Department at Taman Sedia, a 5 minute drive to Tanah Rata or Brinchang. Call the forestry departmnet at 605-4911384.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED WEBSITE ON CAMERON HIGHLANDS
Dear Sir,
Thanks for highlighting Cameron. Always like to browse your websites, replacing my 'Rindu' being there. I was born there and I've spent my childhood in Cameron till twelve.
Stayed in KL and I always make it a point to go there at least once in 2, 3 years.
Latest was last school holidays and I was so amazed at the development.
Anyway...just curious why you never highlight Kampung Taman Sedia. Actually I feel that "Kampung" is quite a unique area.Reason:1st...the route to Brinchang from Tanah Rata can be shortened by +- 4 km.2nd...There's KHM strawberry (I love the ice-cream).3rd... There's few more small planting industries eg. flower nursery, vege farms, mushroom.4th...there's 2 good place to eat( I think one gerai 'manage by "Women Association" is only open for the morning-breakfast, but another gerai...if not mistaken 'Marina Corner'.. I do recommend eating there. Good food and… important...hassle free. 5th...there's a few so called 'homestay' accommodation. Totally different than the other type of accomodation as it is cheaper and really feel like 'balik to own kampung' (By the way...I always bring my family to stay at one of the regular chalet at Kampung Taman Sedia - Marina Chalet)Really affordable, peaceful, nice view and easy parking.6th... Taman Sedia is one of the entrances to Parit Falls and there's a surau+ grocery shops. Bottom line...it's good for tourist convenience... shortcuts to Brinchang, hassle free eating place, buying emergency groceries and few good 'home stay accommodation + few chalets. Do check personally.
Thanks again and really thanks for creating good & fantastic Cameron Websites. It is The Best!!

Dear Mike,
Many thanks for your nice comment and suggestions.
I'm still collecting information and compiling them and it takes time to collect the information and write an easily comprehensible article. Sometimes it is difficult to get information, and your suggestion is most helpful and it would give me some leads to do research. I don't know about Kg Taman Sedia, perhaps the next time I go up to Cameron Highlands I will look it up.
I go up to Cameron Highlands for my holidays about once a year. Usually just to relax and enjoy the cooler climate and visit the tea plantation. If I'm feeling a little bit more adventures, I usually go for a simple 1 hour+ jungle trek. And of course my wife will go buy the various vegetables, and plants for the house.
Looking around the internet, there are many websites about Cameron Highlands but all give very brief and general information. I decided to try my hand at providing the most comprehensive and related information about Cameron Highlands. It is still a work in progress so I hope to add more as time goes by.
Nice of you to drop a comment and this is the first time I receive a comment from a 'native' of Cameron Highlands!
If you are ever feeling 'rindu' about Camerons, do drop by my website once in awhile!
Thanks again and have a good day!

Homestay - Cameron Highlands (Kampung Taman Sedia)
Homestay - Cameron Highlands
Many of the Malaysian population still live in a unhurried and rather charming and traditional lifestyle, where time seems to go at snails pace and the air clean and fresh. Treat yourself to a Kampung (village) Homestay in Malaysia. Be "adopted" by a family and be treated as a member of the family for the duration of your stay.
To get a better appreciation of the culture, you may wear traditional attire, go fishing in a river, play kites with the children, eat simple local food, observe local customs, architecture, and furniture and participate in village activities. As they are mostly a Muslim village, there is no alcohol and it is respectful to dress modestly. Many villages still rely on agriculture as their primary source of income.
With the Pahang Homestay Programme, you will get to experience life in a kampung, or traditional village. Leaving all your cultural baggage behind you can immerse yourself in a fascinating culture within the peaceful ambiance of a quaint and rustic Malay rural setting.
Guests will establish a bond with their friendly foster family and get acquainted with the village elders. Friendly children and accommodating neighbours will also help show you the rural way of life. And throughout your stay, they will get to know you and your culture, too. When you return home, you will bring back a memorable cultural experience and the thought that you will always have a family to welcome you whenever you return to Pahang.
The homestay programme in Pahang is also a way of ensuring that rural folks directly share the benefits of tourism. To ensure guests enjoy their stay, hosts observe high standards of cleanliness, safety and hospitality benchmarked by the authorities. The homestay programme was first developed in Pahang in the 1980s. It was an expansion of the student exchange programme, where a young Malaysian stayed with an adopted family of a different cultural programme. It was an extension of the programme mooted by the federal government in the 1970s with the main objective of promoting greater understanding among Malaysians who came from varied racial and religious backgrounds. It gained greater popularity when foreign students started to participate in the exchange programmes.
